About this event
LARKHAM AND HALL are stalwarts of the Bristol music scene, having played separately and together in the city for a couple of decades. As songwriters, they dig deep into real-life stories to bring bittersweet narratives of hardships, travel, work, love and family. Inspired by the folk, country and blues movement of the 1960s and 1970s, their music is often said to be reminiscent of the great songwriting of Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen and Bruce Springsteen. They are inspired by the stories of everyday people – their strength and resilience, heartache and loss.
Elliot is known to bring several guitars on stage and also has a passion for flamenco music, which is audible throughout his songs. He and Sarah both play guitar and mandolin, and their vocal harmonies have been crafted and polished over ten years of playing music and singing together. Although their music loosely falls into the Americana/roots genre they cut across a wide range of styles using guitar, Spanish guitar, mandolin, percussion and harmonica.
They love to entertain an audience with stories of their travels, interspersing songs with light-hearted humour or a tale to bring a tear to an eye, backing up the songs with the inspiration behind them. Audience members will leave feeling as though they have been on an intimate, emotional journey with Larkham and Hall.

‘A rough, gruff and tumble voice that pulls away at lyrics this good is the kind of daydream we need in England to reignite a spark for credible new songwriters. Fans of folk, poetry and rock ‘n’ roll should pay attention to this wholly earnest and breathtakingly awe-inspiring rogue’ Alex Lee Thompson – NME
‘All is shot through with rare honesty. ‘Cold’ is as heartbreaking in its simplicity as it is in its romance. Heroic and compelling.’ Venue Magazine
