About this event
The artistic life of painter Timothy Nathan Joel first began in April of 2000 while living in a beach hut on an island in southern Thailand. Tim’s main inspiration is that of the sun. So much so that Asia became his home for more than 20 years.
Tim gained a distinction for his BTEC Diploma in General Art and Design and a Bachelor’s degree in film and photography from Napier University, Edinburgh. Most valuable of all is his knowledge from travelling and working around the world since the age of 20.
He has established various different creative ventures over the years including art movements, galleries, studios, poet platforms, art schools, workshops, seminars and public murals. In 2005 Tim published his first book ‘poet painter’ at the Taiwan International Book Exhibition. Tim’s artistic style has become very recognisable worldwide. His Vermilion red composition lines, mastery with colour, love of words and symbolism. He is also creating a series of digital paintings inspired by life in the sun for the NFT market.
The British “Gauguin of Taiwan” is now back on English soil and The Joel Gallery is his latest and on going venture.
It is the family business he has helped create at his home here in Mousehole. A small space with a big heart.
“We welcome all visitors who take the time to discover our little corner of the world. A unique creative energy can be found here”. This is the first year for our gallery/studio to have a pottery workshop and a working original David Leach kick wheel.
Alice Bradley is our resident potter and we welcome you to discover her (MAG) pottery studio.

Details
The path is quite narrow but just about ok for wheelchairs and pushchairs. There are no steps into the gallery. It is on the ground floor. The courtyard is just outside our gallery and pottery studio. A pleasant place to sit and be inspired in the sunshine, if the clouds allow it.
Directions
From the Mousehole harbour front. Go up Duck Street. You'll see various flower pot signage. Take the first right onto Abbey Place. A short stroll along this small winding path leads all the way to the Abbey Place Courtyard. The Joel Gallery is there on the left. The little path leading to the gallery passes by a couple of private dwellings, so please respect the privacy of the neighbours living there.
