About this event
My studio is my home. My work has involved drawing both realistic and abstract images. Painting was originally in acrylics or gouache, but more recently I have discovered watercolour. My sculptures have been mostly in wood so after making a technical drawing I make a maquette in balsa wood. I had a major exhibition of my work at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall where you can still see one of my sculptures called “Skeleton”.
I spent 2 years studying ceramics where I made a series of heads as well as raku pots. This was curtailed by the Pandemic so I began making papier mache models at home. Some of my best work in this period involved making local sea birds such oystercatchers and a gannet.
My degree course at Falmouth University saw me making copper plate prints called mezzotints. These were largely surrealistic in nature and often took months to make.
All of these things will be on display in my studio, together with my sketchbooks which provide an insight into my thinking. Come along for a chat and a browse. Most of the work will be for sale at very affordable prices. All proceeds will go to two charities: Shelterbox and the RNLI.
