About this event
While a conventional canvas will echo the landscape through the layering of pigment, this series of large works is created through the layering of wool, sheared by the artist, and dyed with plants grown on the artist’s holding overlooking the Camel. These textures and surfaces become a microcosm of the landscape from which they arise, and seek that Turneresque sweet spot between the implied and the realised.
LIVING LANDSCAPES also comprises the wider range of the artist’s work: botanical art, drawings from daily experiences living on the land, as well as hand-crafted woollen artefacts including peg-loom rugs and ‘living sheep’ fleeces.
