Join Merlin MS Centre for 10 exercises in 10 days
Cornish Charity Launches Challenge to Keep People Fit and Motivated During the COVID-19 Pandemic.
With schools and businesses shut, day to day routines have been hugely affected leaving many people unsure on how to fill their days. If people can’t go to school or work, then it can be difficult to get up and motivated.
That is why the Merlin MS Centre is launching its 10 exercises in 10 days challenge to mark MS Awareness Week which is from April 21.
Melissa King, the Charity’s clinical lead and neuro physiotherapist, explained: “This challenge aims to get you up and moving in the morning and set you up for the rest of the day. Small things like making your bed can start your daily routine and will have a positive knock on affect to your day. This is the same for a regular exercise routine.
“At 10am for 10 days the Merlin MS Centre would like people to take part in the challenge – starting day one with one exercise; day two with two and then so on until you have 10 exercises to do. You can then do these ten daily exercises as part of your new daytime routine,” she added.
Participants are encouraged to join friends or colleagues remotely by doing the exercises together over online portals such as Zoom or Skype.
At the same time, they are asked to donate what they would normally pay out at their gym, exercise class, or sports session to the Merlin MS Centre. To get others involved participants can let people know they are joining the challenge by setting up a Facebook fundraiser or a Just Giving Page.
The money raised will help the Merlin MS Centre to support its vulnerable service users until the pandemic has passed.
The challenge starts on Tuesday April 21st as part of MS Awareness Week, but people can join in at any time. Details are available on the Merlin MS Centre Facebook page or by emailing [email protected]
