About this event
Do you love stamping with inks and writing letters? Did you know that people used to send messages quickly using telegrams?
Join the Speak Cornish team to learn what a telegram is and make your own in Cornish! Come and get creative with letter and animal stamps, and learn a few words in Cornish. This free and fun family friendly event is for all ages and is drop-in so no need to book!
Can’t make it on this day? Don’t worry, this activity will also be available on Wednesday 14 August and Wednesday 28 August.
This activity is inspired by our summer exhibition about mining and telegraphy – a collaboration with PK Porthcurno – Museum of Global Communications. This beautiful telegram is from their archive collection and was sent to someone in Redruth from someone in Africa in 1950.
