About this event
The visits to Cornwall and the time he spent in the Lamorna Valley between 1908 and 1917 were to have a profound effect on Alfred Munnings. Not only would he find a freedom that allowed him to paint new subjects but his friendships made with other artists such as Laura and Harold Knight, Charles and Ruth Simpson, and Frank and Jessica Heath were very important to him.
He also fell in love and married a young artist Florence Carter- Wood who was a student at the Forbes School of Painting. Munnings not only loved painting the landscape of Cornwall in its own right but also saw it as a backdrop to his figure paintings and particularly his paintings of horses and riders. In this lecture were explore the art and the relationships Munnings made whilst in Cornwall.
