About this event
I was following you into the green of your mind, green at an angle, scaling up in colour, green of a still shadow on the lattice of field. Light joins in a continuum. (Rachael Allen)
Kestle Barton blooms this Spring, in the garden and in the gallery. Artist Ben Sanderson has been studying the plants and flowers at nearby Trebah Gardens and has created a collection of dynamic, colourful works that include painting, drawing and textiles all working in unison with each other.
Ben’s visits to Trebah, just a foot ferry ride across the Helford River from Kestle Barton, began with his interest in the UK’s largest magnolia tree during the week it is in bloom each year.
This is Ben Sanderson’s first solo exhibition. The title, Green at an Angle, is borrowed from a phrase by poet Rachael Allen. This poet and painter have come together and created a limited edition book that will accompany the exhibition, a collaboration with poems and paintings growing in parallel.
