About this event
Taking place on Sunday 7th April from 2pm – 5pm, this is a fantastic event for all the family, with garden tours and a fun-filled trail for little ones.
Visit Boconnoc to enjoy a wonderful day out and support the work of Cornwall Heritage Trust, the small, independent charity whose mission is to protect Cornwall’s unique places, landscapes, traditions and communities.
From the grazing fallow deer in the Deer Park to the centuries-old trees of the ancient woodland, exploring the grounds at Boconnoc feels like stepping into an oil painting.
Begin your tour at the Dorothy Garden, just a quick stroll from the House, where fountains burble and flowers turn their faces to the sun. Bring along a camera to capture the vibrancy of the Shrubbery, which bursts into blossom, from 34 different varieties of hydrangeas to pink and purple rhododendrons and azaleas. For a special escape, explore the palm-fringed paradise of the Tropical Fountain along the Stewardry Walk. Around a waterfall, pool, and Lady Hamilton’s marble bath, the exotic plants create an ambiance that’s akin to a tropical retreat.
A free talk by historian and author, Catherine Lorigan, will be held at 2.30pm. Catherine is the author of the book Boconnoc – The History of a Cornish Estate.
Ticket prices are £6 if pre-booked online and £7.50 on the door. Under 12s go free and do not require booking. Online booking will close at 12noon on the Friday before the event. Due to poor signal, Cornwall Heritage Trust will only be able to accept cash for tickets purchased on the day.
Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
Cakes and refreshments will be available.
Cut flowers and wildlife-friendly plants from the Wild Botanic Flower Farm will also be on sale.
Last entry will be one hour before closing time.
Cornwall Heritage Trust’s Open Gardens 2024 is sponsored by Coodes Solicitors.
