About this event
All equipment and materials provided, class is run by me; Hugh Appleton.
I’ll walk you through you a logical sequence of steps that will help you to achieve a likeness, and a drawing that has depth and mass. We’ll be drawing a live model, but the same method can be used to work from photographs without using grids or dividers. You’ll learn how to see all the information you need.
We’ll build on whatever experience you already have and I encourage you to ask for 1-to-1 guidance on any particular element of the process you feel unsure about.
Charcoal is a very forgiving medium, and is the perfect preparation for painting in oils, but without the complication of colour. If you haven’t used it much before it can feel a little intimidating but I’ll show you how to tame it and make it your friend!
It will take place in the beautiful and spacious main gallery on the top floor of The Poly, which is in the vibrant centre of Falmouth. There’s also an excellent café (but I’ll provide tea, coffee and biscuits for our short breaks)
cost: £80
