About this event
Charlie Jay is a West Cornwall born landscape photographer who studied at the University of Plymouth before relocating to Australia. Inspired by the work of early colour photographers in America, he became engrossed in the process of shooting with large format film cameras – both 4×5” and 8×10”.
Continuing to make work in this analogue fashion, Charlie prefers to create bodies of work based around a premeditated theme, whether it be places of strong emotional connection such as his childhood garden or remote towns in the Australian outback.
Prints are made using both traditional colour darkroom methods and digital giclée.
During Open Studios, he will have a variety of work on show and even the chance to have a look through the ground glass of his 8×10” camera.
