About this event

Crochet for beginners - part 1.

Have you ever tried to crochet by following a book or YouTube tutorial and it hasn’t worked for you – we can help! These crochet lessons are 2 x 2.5 hours and for absolute beginners onward. If you already, crochet or just need a little help to progress, we can help you with that. Reading patterns, changing colours, working in a round, and problem solving any issues you have with your crochet.

In the first absolute beginners’ class, you will learn the basics of crochet. We’ll start with slip knot, chain, then double crochet, and treble crochet. We’ll discuss the difference between UK/USA terms. We will look at yarn and hook information and will answer any questions you may have as we go. You’ll also get a hook and yarn to keep so that you can practice.

In the second lesson, we’ll troubleshoot from lesson one, then go on to magic ring, increasing, decreasing and working in a round. We will then progress onto starting a coaster.

We are Debbie & Cheryl and collectively have crocheted for many decades. Our products can be found at The Mirva Gallery (Cheryl Gibson and The Tumtum Tree). Debbie can often be found behind the counter there with a ball of yarn working away at her next project.
