About this event
Edinburgh based artist Sheila Jardine has been selected to exhibit as part of this year’s
St Ives Arts Festival. An acclaimed sculpt and painter, Sheila will take part in the prestigious event, which attracts artists from around the world to the Cornish seaside town this month.
Sheila’s exhibition will include her trademark wire sculptures with works including waves, fish and seabirds all inspired by visits to St Ives but created in her studio overlooking the Firth of Forth in Edinburgh.
The sculptures utilise reclaimed wire along with coloured glass and fluorescent finishes to reflect key images of maritime and coastal life.
“Although more than 500 miles apart, Edinburgh and St Ives share an affinity with the sea and all the works in the exhibition have a coastal inspiration” Sheila said.
“I’ve been visiting Cornwall for years so it is a real honour to be asked to exhibit in the September festival which has become a big event in the arts calendar, attracting thousands of visitors each year”.
Sheila’s work will be on display at Barnoon Arts in St Ives from September 12th to 24th.
