‘The Land Rose Up To Meet Us’ is an exhibition of paintings by Nellie Crane

Nellie Crane (Nellie Shepherd and Barbara Crane) are contemporary artists creating as one. Their collaboration merges different perspectives and artistic visions so that their work conveys their passion for the ever changing landscape.

Over the past three years they have worked together in Cornwall to create a series of work that reflects the unique light and vibrancy of colour found on the Penwith Peninsula. Their starting point was in St Ives where the beaches, architecture and cultural heritage provided a wealth of inspiration. In 2023 Nellie and Barbara were awarded a residency at Brisons Veor at Cape Cornwall. It was here that they were able to immerse themselves in an elemental landscape. This enabled them to build up a huge store of resource material.

In April 2024 much of the work that emerged from their exposure to the Cornish landscape will feature in an exhibition at Morvah, Cornwall: titled ‘The Land Rose Up To Meet Us.’ www.nelliecrane.com.
