About this event
This astonishing spring and summer to come has made Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange wonder, when they can’t open their doors and share art with visitors, what everyone might be doing, seeing and feeling during this period?
The Gallery wants to create a document of this time by inviting everyone to send them, on a postcard, something of your life: your daily walk perhaps, objects in your home that have become very familiar, new skills learned, talents discovered or whatever it is you are looking forward to most.
They are sending out a small pack of postcards with a freepost return envelope to anyone who wants to join in. We know that not everyone has online access. Participants are invited to illustrate, write, paper-fold, print, collage, draw, sewing, paint, any medium acceptable – if it can go on a postcard, it’s possible.
“I would love people to join in together in whatever way they want…. there are no rules. Express yourself in whatever way you like! This is a celebration of individual creativity in difficult times,” says James Green, Gallery Director.
Any postcards sent back to the gallery using the freepost envelope by 30 September will be included in a whole-community document exhibition of this strange time as soon as the Gallery is able to open its doors and welcome everyone in again.
If you’d like to take part, email Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange at [email protected] with your name and postal address or drop them a line to The Exchange, Princes Street, Penzance TR18 2NL and they will send out your pack of postcards and freepost return envelope.
