About this event
Singer-songwriter Frankie Davies is back at The Acorn with an intimate acoustic evening celebrating the release of new music, sharing the stories behind new and old favourites, transporting listeners through painful and joyful moments in her life. Frankie’s distinctive vocals and storytelling will resonate with fans of Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile and Caitlyn Smith.
Originally from Jersey, Frankie now lives in West Cornwall and has been championed by Bob Harris on Radio 2 as well as giving live radio performances. Frankie has visited Nashville many times to write – and to perform, most notably at the international showcase CMA Fest. She has toured with some of the biggest names in country music, including Chris Young , Maddie & Tae and The Shires.
Frankie’s 2018 debut album ‘Wherever I Go’ gained critical praise, national airplay and major playlist support from Spotify. The album represents Frankie as artist and songwriter, pushing different genre lines and exploring further outside Country and Americana.
In 2021, Frankie turned her focus to motherhood. After a two year hiatus from music, her first release of 2024 ‘Never Used To Cry’ sees her return to her soaring best. It’s heart-on-your-sleeve songwriting of the highest order with a vocal performance to match.
‘What she is quite clearly is an artist who can roar, yet still be as gentle as a moment requires.’ – FOR FOLKS SAKE
True Foxes, a rising folk/americana family duo, are quickly gaining popularity in the South West and beyond. Amie, with her soulful vocals and earworm song writing, has been compared to artists such as Brandi Carlile, Karen Carpenter, and Dolly Parton, accompanied by guitar, ukulele, banjo, and piano. Chloë complements Amie’s vocals with ethereal harmonies and melodic bass lines.
If you’re a fan of First Aid Kit and The Secret Sisters but with a touch of British influence, you’ll definitely enjoy True Foxes.
