About this event
My art is inspired by the ethereal influences of the coastal landscape and the constant brooding presence of the Atlantic Ocean.
Throughout my life I have been drawn to nature, to the sea and more specifically to the beautiful coastline of Cornwall, as a young girl, when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up my answer was invariably ‘a mermaid’!
Although originally an apprentice ‘paintress’ at Royal Doulton painting figurines, I’ve holidayed in Cornwall all of my life and when in 2014 my husband and I took early retirement and moved from Staffordshire to Carbis Bay it was my chance to fully explore my creativity.
I paint mainly in Oils and Acrylics and although some of my work is on more traditional materials such as box canvas and boards, I love painting on more unusual items like marine artefacts such as paddles and oars sourced from local barns and sheds, locally foraged driftwood and old unloved brown furniture. Examples of these pieces will be on display and I look forward to chatting with visitors whilst I create new works.
