Lizzie Black - Open Studios

Lizzie Black will be showing a selection of plein air paintings of Mousehole, West Penwith and Flowers Studies and Interiors from her Garden Studio

Lizzie Black lives and works in Mousehole, Cornwall. She is a plein air painter enjoying the immediacy of painting in the landscape and responding to her surroundings. She is a well known in the village as she is often found painting in the harbour and surrounding area. These colourful scenes of the pretty fishing vessels, luggers and visiting boats with their ever changing reflections make for a captivating subject. Other favourite painting spots include include beach scenes and coves around Penwith.

Lizzie is also well known for her garden studies, still lifes and interiors. Lizzie collects flowers from the garden and the surrounding cliff walks creating compositions at home along side her vintage china and glass collection. The light reflecting from a neighbouring jug or even the warmth of a shadow from a flower onto a surface are explored with equal curiosity and interest. Her work creates a feeling of nostalgia and celebrates colour and light.

Lizzie shows her work in galleries across Cornwall and has exhibited her work at the Mall Galleries with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters for the last four years. She also teaches painting in her local area and delivers online tutoring.
