About this event
Sea Sanctuary is a unique mental health charity and one of the world’s leading exponents of blue health, the concept that ‘blue spaces’, such as the sea, are beneficial for people’s mental and emotional wellbeing.
The workshop will invite you to consider the following;
Personal attitudes (understanding) – what are your attitudes towards mental health? What beliefs do you hold about mental health? Can you tend to your own mental health needs?
Subjective Norms (Recognising) – Does the company you work for share your beliefs about mental health and mental well-being in the workplace? What is the prevailing attitude towards mental health in your workplace?
Perceived behavioural control (Responding) – Are you confident in responding to the mental health needs of colleagues? Would you know how to respond? Would you know what to do in a mental health crisis or if a colleague was in distress?
Key topics explored:
• Valuing mental health and understanding how personal attitudes can affect company culture
• Building personal resilience and learning how to tend to your own mental health needs
• Recognising, evaluating and improving the prevailing attitude towards mental health in your workplace
• Effectively responding to the mental health needs of colleagues
• Managing stress, anxiety and/or depression in the workplace
Our goal
To enable you to aspire to the highest standards of professional, evidence-based and compassionate practice in your place of work.
The workshop will be led by an experienced Sea Sanctuary therapist; Philip Collier.
Phil has over thirty five years’ experience working alongside people with both severe mental health disorders and common mental health disorders. Formerly a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Phil has developed his practice, focusing on psychological therapies, in particular, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
This workshop is part funded by the European Social Fund which has supported us to offer this at only £10 per person including lunch and light refreshments throughout the day.
