About this event
Step into the 70s with the Leach Pottery’s latest film ‘A Visit to the Leach Pottery, 1973’. Kindly provided by the Mingei Film Archive, this film is available to watch for free on the Leach Pottery’s website from 3 August – 31 August 2020.
This fascinating footage was filmed by book editor Kim Schuefftan during his visit to St Ives in 1973. Sitting undeveloped since this time, it has now been processed and edited by Directory Marty Gross and presented online for the first time. The film is accompanied by commentary from potter John Bedding, who gives a charming insight into life at the Pottery.
Founded by Canadian filmmaker Marty Gross, The Mingei Film Archive is an ongoing project to restore, enhance and preserve films that document the history of Japan’s Mingei Movement and its ongoing legacy in the world of contemporary ceramics.
