About this event
Small oil paintings, made in situ using a pochade box, inspired by the rivers and wooded creeks that characterise this area of Cornwall. Visitors will be able to see a range of finished pieces and works in progress alongside framed works for sale.
As a figurative artist I am predominantly interested in working en plein air, taking inspiration from the landscape of Cornwall – in particular the rivers and creeks of the Fal estuary and the coastal peninsular of the Roseland. I strive to capture the essence of a place, chasing the light and the movement of the tides working fast to pin down my response in oil or water colour using a lightweight pochade and small panels for portability. When rain stops play, I like to bring the outside in with oil studies of floral still lives but on the whole the landscape is my studio. My work can be seen locally in The Square Gallery, St Mawes and Veryan Galleries on the Roseland.
