About this event
A selling exhibition of previously undiscovered work by renowned artist-potter JOHN MALTBY (1936-2020), spanning 6 decades. Leach-period pots, slab-built vessel forms, figurative sculpture, painted wood models and automata, paintings and fragments from his workshop benches – exquisite heads, birds, figures, fish, boats – hand-held talismans to treasure – all displayed in the two large gallery spaces. Accompanying these major exhibits are new framed linocut prints by MELVYN EVANS, mixed media sculptures by SHIRLEY VAUVELLE, jewellery by GUY ROYLE and painterly slipware pottery by NIGEL LAMBERT. New slate sculpture and tables by HELEN NOCK are displayed in the gardens surrounding the gallery.
