18:30 Doors open, 19:00 Screening of the film 'Green School Memories', 20:00 Cadgwith Singers perform
About this event
CAST is hosting a special gathering for anyone with memories of Helston County Secondary School, which formerly occupied the CAST building. The school was commonly known as the ‘Green School’ because of its dark green and grey uniform.
In 2015 we worked with the staff of the oral history company Azook to collect images and stories about the school, with a special emphasis on the period from the end of the fifties until the school closed in 1972. A collection of images and recordings are now freely available on their online archive cornishmemory.com
Doors open at 6.30pm; drinks and light refreshments available from CAST Café.
A film combining interviews conducted by David George with images of school life will be screened from 7pm and there will be a chance to explore the building and chat with old friends.
The Cadgwith Singers will also join us to perform after the film screening at 8pm.
