Benefit gig in aid of Penzance Food Bank, Penzance Food for Families and the Street Food Project
After previous sell-out performances at the Acorn, the Falmouth Soul Sensation are thrilled to be returning for their eighth annual benefit gig at the venue! The band have become Cornwall’s favourite 10/12 piece soul band, They have been playing the best of classic 60’s soul music for more than a decade. Expect music from Aretha, Sam and Dave, Otis, Dusty, Wilson Pickett and many others!
The band regularly plays to packed audiences all over Cornwall and has been booked back to almost everywhere it has played. Appearances include the opening event for Falmouth Carnival for thirteen years, Looe Festival for five consecutive years, St Just’s Lafrowda festival, Penzance’s Golowan, Penryn Fayre, Redruth’s Murdoch Day and Falmouth Princess Pavilion, plus support for Cornwall performances of The Three Degrees and Geno Washington. The band has released an album, on CD and Vinyl, called ‘Soul from the Archive’.
Following a lock-down break in 2021, the show will return to the Acorn and will be held in aid of organisations in Penzance that are helping to tackle the increasing difficulties of food insecurity in the local area. The Penzance Food Bank, Penzance Food for Families and Penzance Street Food project will share the proceeds of the event to help them with their work making sure that children and families are fed this winter.
This event will brighten up the gloom of January for music lovers of all ages. Expect a lively evening of non-stop dancing, or just sit back in the balcony and enjoy!
