About this event
Come along to Maya’s welcoming studio at Jubilee Wharf Gallery. Situated on the banks of the Penryn River, being part of a thriving creative community.
Maya is particularly inspired by recycling preloved pieces of jewellery to create new work. She reclaims broken silver and gold clasps, hooks and chains and fuses them together, transforming these eco precious metals into fresh organic forms. She uses the melted silver as a pencil or a paintbrush to create lines and textures, much like when sketching or painting the landscape around her.
‘My inspiration comes from observing the pulse of nature, the changing of the tides and the seasons right outside my Cornwall based studio. I love to create pieces of art and jewellery that reflect these special moments using materials that respect the world around us. I hope my work will encourage you to stop for a moment, to enjoy it and allow yourself an indulgence that will make you or a loved one feel special too.’
