The Brussels-based chamber music ensemble Carousel was founded in 2019 by award-winning Belgian clarinettist Annelien Van Wauwe, a recent member of BBC New Generation Artists.
Carousel is a flexible and pioneering ensemble which gathers outstanding musicians from around Europe; its members have won prizes at renowned competitions such as the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, the Borletti Buitoni Trust Award, the International Tchaikovsky Competition, the Opus Klassik Award and the German Music Competition. The ensemble works closely with contemporary composers and has had the privilege of commissioning and premiering several new compositions and arrangements. Carousel aims to bring its core philosophy of togetherness closer to its audience and to break down cultural barriers through the universal language of music.
Carousel played its debut concert at Klara Festival in Antwerp in 2020 and since then is regularly invited to perform in major European concert halls. We are delighted to welcome the ensemble for its debut performance at Cornwall Playhouse with a programme of magnificent masterpieces featuring clarinet, cello and piano.
