About this event
Mozart’s famous Clarinet Quintet in A, KV 581 was the first ever piece of music for this sort of instrumentation.
It’s composed for clarinet plus string quartet.
Mozart wrote it for his friend, acclaimed clarinetist Anton Stadler.
Roughly a hundred years later, Brahms modelled his Clarinet Quintet in B minor, op. 115 on Mozart’s composition.
He wrote it for his friend, acclaimed clarinetist Richard Mühlfeld.
Two amazing works, so much alike in their genesis, yet so different and very beautiful.
They aren’t performed very often, so this is an opportunity not to miss.
After the concert, there will be a cup of tea/cream tea.
