About this event
HAIKU
What is a haiku? How can we create haiku? Haiku is a short 3 line poem with a maximum of 17 syllables that can be fitted into your day, a chance to distil your thoughts and express your creativity. This is a course for those who want to dip their toe into haiku and have a go as well as for those already enjoying this form. We will explore the form, discuss ideas around haiku and take part in bite-sized workshops around themes.
After completing this workshop you should be able to:
Understand the difference between a haiku and other poetry forms
Summarise the elements of a haiku
Compare differences between traditional and modern haiku
Develop the techniques to write a haiku from different perspectives and prompts
Gain confidence in experimenting with haiku also haiku and image (haiga) and photo haiku.
Explore different approaches and tones in haiku writing from humour to activism to emotions (senryu)
Feel confident to be able to write haiku
Consider sharing your haiku on other platforms including joining THE DAILY HAIKU
