About this event
Each exhibit will consist of an archival, contemporary or “imagined” photographic image set alongside a short, related piece of poetry or prose.
All the exhibits will focus on working life in Falmouth and its surroundings. We want these exhibits to capture, in words and images, the people of our community at work, the places where they work and the feelings they have about work in a thoughtful way. Through text that responds to historical images or contemporary photographs of historic sites, we want to convey these feelings and ideas about working life in the past as well as the present. And, ambitiously, we want to explore the possible futures of work in our region through imaginative text and constructed or manipulated images of working life twenty or thirty years from now.
We do not need both images and words to be from the same person. We welcome the idea, for example, of a photographer working with a creative writer to make an exhibit jointly. If you would like to enter an image and accompanying poetry or prose for exhibition, please contact us at [email protected] for further information.
We will require a good quality digital image and a maximum of 120 words of text. We intend to format almost all content in the same way so that we can produce simple arrangements of text and images on horizontal A3 pages and hang them in a graphical and readable way, like the open pages of a book. For the sake of variety, we may enlarge or adopt a different way of showing selected exhibits.
There will be a small group of people selecting, formatting and arranging work on behalf of TFO.
Tuesday 2nd July to Saturday 6th July, 10am to 5pm
Free Entry. Everyone welcome!
