About this event
Beating the Bounds is a traditional custom where, once a year, communities walked the boundary of their parish and created a shared mental map of home. Each walk will be led by poet and historian Mark Camp and will vary in length and difficulty.
For this walk we’re heading to the moor. Staring at the Minions car park, we’ll walk across the moor via the hurlers standing stones to Daniels Gumb’s Tomb then up to the Cheesewring and Stowe hill before heading out to Henwood and returning through the trees to the moor and mine workings. We will then head to the Crow’s Nest for a debrief. Please bring along your own picnic lunch for the debrief if you wish to.
We encourage participants to come with cameras to document the trip, but ask you to leave dogs at home. You are welcome to sign up for both walks or just one. If you’d like any further information please email [email protected] This project is part of the Hello Stranger programme led by Wildworks and is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
