Ranging from Parisian and American Jazz, the Chaabi music of Algeria, Tango from Argentina, Balkan Folk melodies, through to Folk music of Western Europe, The Balagan Café Band fuses these threads into a coherent sound that is both energising and evocative.
Christian Miller has worked with a cross section of fine musicians including Nigel Price and Adrian Cox, with music ranging from New Orleans jazz and swing through to bop, contemporary jazz and electric fusion.
Richard Jones is an exciting young British violinist recognised for his innovative sound, approach and adaptability within a broad range of musical contexts. Previous appearances at Calstock Arts has seen Richard play alongside Christine Tobin, Gabrielle Ducomble and Nicolas Meier.
Shirley Smart is recognised as one of the UK’s most versatile and creative cellists. She has also appeared at Calstock Arts previously, with a stand out performance as part of the Interchange dectet in 2018.
