About this event
I am inspired by popular culture and I’ve used all sorts of media in the past to craft and re-create recognisable things. Currently, I work with text, photography, printmaking and publishing and for open studios, I will display my ongoing project, Thus Tess Walks On.
This is an adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the d’Urbervilles and reflects my memory that much of the drama in Hardy’s stories happens out of doors, on paths, tracks and crossroads. My version, therefore, is pared back to Tess’s forward movements through the landscape of the novel. To find these part real—part imagined landscapes I continue to document my own movements around England and Wales.
I look forward to seeing you in my studio and showing you more of the project.
