About this event
In an easy relaxed way Ken will guide you through making a bookblock, a cover and finally how to bring them together to make a beautiful A5 book with a cloth spine and Japanese paper cover filled with quality Fabriano paper.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
During this workshop you will learn about paper grain, folding, collating and stitching together the pages to make a bookblock, before tackling the case (cover) and finally binding the two together. Not only will you leave with a beautiful A5 multi-section hardbound book that can be used as a journal or sketchbook, you will also take home the skills to make many more at your kitchen table. No previous experience necessary.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
The cost of the workshop covers all the materials required as well as tea, coffee, soft drinks etc.
Aprons are available for you to use however, as glue is involved, you may wish to wear clothes that can get messy!
Lunch is not provided – please feel free to bring your own (there is a fridge you are welcome to use). There are also a number of shops and cafes a short walk away.
Don’t forget your reading glasses if you need them as there is a lot of close up work.
